Tips for burning your candle like a pro

candles()

Every time you are thinking to light a candle, the best practise is to keep it in an angle, in order to let the flame go across the length of the wick.

Wooden wicks burn differently than traditional ones, and sometimes there are a few issues that makes them not to stay lit. Don’t worry though! We are here to solve all of these potential issues…

First use is the most important one!

As a first step, give your candle enough time to burn and to develop a “lake” that goes all the way to the edge of the container. This could take a few hours, but remember that your candle has a wax-burning pattern, and once it has been established, it is difficult to change it.

If you don’t allow your candle to form this lake on the first burn, a small pool may start to form around the wick. This pooling effect will only continue with each burn. After a while the pool will be too deep for the oxygen to flow in, so the candle will have trouble staying lit for more than short time.

Another good tip is to keep your wood wick trimmed and free of charred bits.

If your candle has developed the pooling effect, you can usually fix it!

If your candle stays lit, give it a long burn until all the wax is melted to the edge of the jar, and you’ve effectively reset the pattern of the candle.

If your candle doesn’t stay lit because it is drown in a pool, try using a napkin in order to remove the excess wax. Repeat until the wick has room to breathe again.
